By Train: New Jersey Transit trains running between Trenton and Penn Station/New York stop at the New Brunswick station at least hourly, with more frequent service during rush hour. Amtrak's Northeast Corridor trains (traveling between Washington and Boston) generally do not stop in New Brunswick, but one can transfer at Trenton (coming from the south) or New York (coming from the north) to a New Jersey Transit local, or take Amtrak to Metropark (Iselin, NJ). Cabs are generally available at both the New Brunswick and Metropark stations.
